North America Secner Holdings (NASH) is the U.S. arm of Secner, a Mexican energy-sector company specializing in procurement, maintenance, and automation services for oil, gas, and water infrastructure. Through Startup Texas, the company pitched TIEMS, a non-destructive, surface-level technology for inspecting the coating on buried pipelines — capable of detecting anomalies up to 65 feet deep with roughly 3-foot resolution, without digging or interrupting pipeline operations. The product is aimed at companies that operate underground pipelines carrying hydrocarbons, water, or other substances, competing against more established coating-inspection methods like DCVG. The company applied to the Startup Texas Pitch Summit in both 2020 and 2021, sponsored by the Brownsville Community Improvement Corporation (BCIC), and received a $20,000 grant following its 2021 pitch.
Founder and President Juan Acra is a Mechanical/Industrial Engineer who began his career as a financial analyst at Banamex working on strategic projects for Pemex, Mexico's Federal Electricity Commission, and the petrochemical industry, before founding Secner in Mexico in 2002. Secner grew into a specialized energy-sector maintenance and procurement firm, earning recognition in 2008 from the U.S. Department of Commerce for fostering trade between Mexico and the U.S.; Acra expanded the business into the U.S. as North America Secner Holdings in Houston in 2012. He's held senior roles in Mexico's energy policy establishment, including vice president of the Business Coordinating Council (CCE), president of the National Energy Commission of Mexico's Employers' Confederation (COPARMEX), and president of the National Energy Commission (COMENER) since December 2015; he also founded the Tamaulipas–Texas International Energy Cluster in 2016.
