Company description
Todo Agave makes pure, organic agave syrup in small-batch flavors — Hibiscus, Coconut, Espresso, Ginger, and Habanero among them — as a lower-glycemic, all-natural alternative to processed sugar. The Brownsville-area company was part of the Quality of Life Ventures cohort of Startup Texas, the accelerator and pitch competition sponsored by the Brownsville Community Improvement Corporation (BCIC) in partnership with UTRGV's Entrepreneurship and Commercialization Center (ECC) and taught at the eBridge Center, and pitched at the program's May 2024 Demo Day.
Todo Agave was founded in September 2023 by three partners — Mauricio Piña, who also runs Cobalt Digital Marketing; Hector Burnias, who owns two other Brownsville food-and-beverage spots, Flying Pig & Cantina and Santuario Tacos and Cocktails; and Todd Day. The team set out to build a healthier, natural sweetener aimed at cutting down on processed sugar consumption, particularly within the Hispanic community, with flavors suited to vegan and gluten-free diets. The business has been entirely self-funded, and the founders' Startup Texas grant went toward organic certification for the product and a first production run of the Coconut flavor, alongside building out the company's Amazon storefront and website.
