Company description
Pisharodi Electronics has developed a non-invasive, portable vibration therapy device — wearable as a cap and controllable via iPhone or Android app — designed to help manage and control headache and migraine pain without relying on narcotics, other medications, or invasive procedures. The device generates a range of vibration wave patterns and uses intermittent (rather than continuous) stimulation specifically to help prevent the kind of tolerance buildup that can undercut long-term pain therapies. The company went through the 2023 Startup Texas SBIR/STTR Innovation Competition, a program run by the Brownsville Community Improvement Corporation (BCIC) in partnership with UTRGV's Entrepreneurship and Commercialization Center (ECC) and TEES.
The device is the invention of Dr. Madhavan Pisharodi, a neurosurgeon who has practiced in the Rio Grande Valley for more than three decades and holds somewhere between 60 and 70+ U.S. and international patents — an unusually prolific inventor even by physician standards. His medical inventions include the FDA-cleared "Lumbar Intervertebral Disk Stabilization" (LIDS) surgical technique and titanium implant, the RADIX and SARAL cervical plates, and the UNIMAX pedicle screw plating system, all of which he designed, patented, and brought through multi-center clinical trials. Beyond medicine, he holds patents on solar panels, an energy-saving/device-protecting battery charger, and has pending patents on wind turbine and hydroelectric systems. Electrical engineer Manuel Narcia has worked alongside Dr. Pisharodi for four years and served as the applicant and day-to-day company contact on the Startup Texas submission.
