AMYCO
Company description
AMYCO (full legal name AMYCO, S.A. de C.V., doing business as "Amyco Telecomunicaciones") is an established Mexico City telecommunications and IT infrastructure integrator, founded in 1994. Its core services span data center design and monitoring, wired and WiFi networking, distributed antenna systems and wireless infrastructure, CCTV/safety infrastructure, and smart-city technology — the company describes itself as a pioneer in structured cabling and fiber-optic installation in Mexico and has worked in collaboration with Telmex. AMYCO applied to the 2021 Startup Texas Pitch Summit, sponsored by the Brownsville Community Improvement Corporation (BCIC), seeking to bring its telecom expertise into the Rio Grande Valley — building municipal WiFi, 5G, and smart-city infrastructure for the Brownsville area and beyond.
Managing Director Agustin Martinez brought 27 years of experience in Mexico's telecom industry to the pitch, with AMYCO already an established, 20-employee business serving enterprise, government, and industrial clients in Mexico by the time of the application. Innovation and Sales Manager Pilar Caudillo led the company's push into the U.S. market. As the 2021 application put it, AMYCO was "a mature business" in Mexico but "a start up" in Brownsville — the company sought roughly $50,000 total, split between its own Mexican operations and Startup Texas funding, to establish local contacts, understand municipal WiFi/5G/smart-city plans, and begin building a presence in the Rio Grande Valley.
